Signature Assignment Paragraphs
I felt that the process of reading the articles and doing the savvy reader and short form really was good. This process helped me to think deeply and pay more attention to the articles than I probably normally would have. I felt like the hard part was actually finding good and interesting articles that I wanted to use for the assignment. I was able to learn more and take more out of the articles because I analyzed them more deeply and thought about them more.
I liked using the savvy reader form from the book because it helped me to determine if the articles were credible or not. It helped me to think about things like the funding source, any biases that could be present, if participants and testers were blind to an experiment and more. I felt that the savvy reader forms applied more to these chosen articles than they did to some of the assignments from the semester. It was a good form to help me think a little bit different than usual.
The short form that was used was kind of like the long forms from taking sides. I thought the short form was good to help me in determining fallacies and how authors sometimes frame things so that the reader looks over certain aspects. This sheet was also good to do with the savvy reader form because it helped me think deeply about the subject and analyze the information. Both the savvy reader and short form went well with each other.
I felt like the process of the signature assignment was good. It really helped me to think deeply and analyze the information that I was reading. I feel like I got more out of the articles after going through this process than I would have if I would have just read them. Sometimes it was hard to tell if the authors could be biased or the funding sources and things like that. Some questions did not always apply to every article but they were still good to think about as I read through them.
